Dental Implants

We currently refer patients to specialist for best possible results.

For more information on implants, please read on. As an alternative to dentures, dental implants have become an increasingly popular method for replacing missing teeth. During this procedure, titanium supports will be surgically fused with your jawbone in order to act as an anchor for more natural looking false teeth.

Advantages of dental implants

  • They are extremely natural looking and function as your natural teeth would

  • Fusion between the implants and your jaw make them very stable and comfortable compared to traditional dentures

  • They last a lifetime

Disadvantages of dental implants

  • They can be expensive and require a major financial investment

  • The process can be time-consuming and require multiple visits to the dentist

  • There is a 5% chance that the surgery can fail

  • A root form implant is the most common type of implant where the screw is shaped like the root of a natural tooth

  • The plate form implant has a flat and long shape and is best suite for a narrow jawbone

  • In some cases where there is not enough bone width or height for the root form or plate form implant, a subperiosteal implant may be used. This type of implant is designed to sit on top of the bone but underneath the gum.
